Subject: Please sign London Healthy Air Coalition's pledges
Dear [name],
I’m writing to you as a resident of [your borough] who is concerned about air pollution in our city. I am getting in touch to ask you to commit to taking action to clean up London’s air if you are elected as our Councillor.
Will you sign up to the London Healthy Air Coalition’s pledges? You can read more about the pledges and sign up at https://www.healthyairlondon.co.uk/.
Everyone in our city should have the right to breathe clean air, but our air is still much dirtier than international guidelines for safe air. Air pollution causes or worsens health problems from asthma and lung cancer to strokes, heart disease, dementia and many more. It leads to people dying early, childhoods spent in and out of hospital and it has a major impact on London’s health services and economy. But taking action on major sources of pollution - like transport and those in our homes - can help boost health, lower bills, and tackle climate change.
The London Healthy Air Coalition is calling for every candidate in the London local elections to pledge to:
1. Adopt updated targets and help make London a clean air global city.
2. Ditch diesel and help London’s workers breathe easy.
3. Deliver less traffic and more movement, bringing health and economic benefits for all.
4. Lead the way on warm homes and lower bills.
As you’re standing to elected as our Councillor this May, please commit to taking action on air pollution by signing up to the pledges. To sign up, simply head to the Healthy Air London website and click through to the form. But please reply to this email so that I know either way.
Best wishes,
